Description
The Unix Systems Engineer handles installing, upgrading, and migrating Linux/Unix/AIX servers, managing ansible/puppet, Identity Management, and Infoblox. The role ensures server stability, performance, and reliability in both on-premise and Azure environments. Strong technical and communication skills are essential.
Position Responsibilities:
- Support & administrate LINUX/HPUX/IBM AIX Server environments with new installation, upgrades and patching
- Support the enterprise Automation environments using Ansible and Puppet
- Responsible for the support and administration of the Infoblox and BIND DNS environments
- Support and administrate UNIX/Linux server nodes within virtualized environments
- Support of Openstack / Citrix Xen virtualized environments
Qualification
Position Requirements:
- Strong time-management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to think critically, analytically, and strategically.
- Expert experience in the administration of Unix Operating systems and variants (HPUX/IBM AIX/RHEL6/7/8, Suse, Centos, Ubuntu, MACOS)
- Experience in administrating DNS, both BIND and Infoblox
- Solid foundation in networking concepts, (Ethernet configuration, NIC bonding, TCP/IP troubleshooting, packet capture/analysis using Tcpdump/Wireshark)
- Experience administrating NTP, NFS Server/Client, SUDO, and LDAP clients
- Experience with global configuration tools such as Ansible and Puppet. Ability to create deployment playbooks for server build and application deployments.
- Experience with SFTP setup and administration
- Experience with shell scripting (i.e sh/csh/ksh/bash), automation programming (i.e. sed, awk, Python) and performance monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience deploying Unix/Linux systems within Virtualization Environments

Position Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in Unix/Linux server administration
- Education requirement – BA/BS in computer science, engineering or a relevant field, master's degree preferred.
